Some of our Year 2 Garden Gang children, alongside our fantastic Year 6 Head Gardener, set out two different varieties of early potatoes for chitting. The children always look forward to potato harvest time, so this is the start of another exciting potato-growing adventure!

After our recent pea shoot taste test proved to be such a success, we’re continuing our microgreen journey. This time the children sowed Swiss chard and beetroot — with the beetroot microgreens specially requested by Harry from Year 2!

Our purple sprouting broccoli was ready for harvesting, and the children did a fantastic job picking it and taking it straight to the school kitchen. How wonderful that it was served at lunchtime today alongside our delicious roast dinner!

We also checked on our garlic and rhubarb and spotted that along with the daffodils, more early spring flowers have opened,  wonderful news for the bumble bees.

The tulips are beginning to wake up too, and before long they’ll bring a beautiful splash of colour to our “Perfectly Pink Pollinator Patch”  - a cheerful welcome for both our garden visitors and the pollinators that help our garden grow.
