Year 5 had a fantastic Geography this week linked to our topic of ''Amazon Adventure.''

We are focusing on South America looking at it's climate, landscapes and of course the Amazon Rainforest.

For our introductory lesson, children were asked to work together to gather their ideas about the continent including the approximate size, how many countries they thought it had in it, the languages that were spoken and whereabouts it was in the world.

To help them with this task, children used atlases to locate South America on a World Map. They then continued to use the atlases to support them in locating, naming and labelling the 12 countries within South America as well as the two territories. Children are incredibly excited to learn more about South America and have already begun researching rainforest animals ready for their future lessons.

Well done Year 5!
