Yesterday, Year 5 were very excited to accept an invitation to Marsden Community Primary School for a Building Bridges Event.

The event was led by craftivist Sam Edwards aka Phoebe Foxtrot. Sam explained that she is a huge art lover and is passionate about both craft and activism. Phoebe Foxtrot is Sam's alter ego. Sam said that she is very passionate about spreading positive messages throughout the community to create joy in what can sometimes feel like a difficult world.

Children took part in several ice breaker games to reacquaint themselves and find out each other's favourite hobbies, memories and subjects in school. Sam then asked the children to think about some compliments they could shout from the soap box to passers by in the street. Year 5 were incredibly thoughtful in their responses and came up with things like ''you look beautiful today'' ''you are made of sunshine'' and ''you are magnificent.''

After being teamed up with children from Marsden, the children had a crafting activity where they were able to make rosettes with positive affirmations on and used their own creativity to decorate them using a range of resources.

Towards the end of the session, Sam showed children how to make a small fabric tie and attach it to a sculpture which will be finished off live at Pendle Festival of Culture on 29th June which children are more than welcome to attend.

A lovely reunion for the children and a wonderful reminder to spread positivity around and unleash your creativity whenever and wherever you can.
