Just before the half-term holiday, some of our Reception Class Garden Gang children joined Mrs Nelson in the school garden to carefully sow some teeny tiny lettuce seeds. They did a fantastic job, gently sprinkling the little seeds into a shallow drill and covering them with care.

Since then, the lettuce has been nurtured and looked after by the children, who have loved watching it grow from tiny seeds into beautiful leafy plants.

The children are now excitedly counting down to our Growing & Sharing Lunch, where they will harvest their own lettuce and help prepare a fresh green salad for their parents and carers to enjoy alongside lunch.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the children’s hard work, patience and learning, while experiencing first-hand the journey from seed to plate. We are incredibly proud of them all and look forward to welcoming EYFS parents and carers to our Growing & Sharing Lunch on Friday 12th June at 11:15am, where the children will proudly share the lettuce they have grown themselves.
