We were certainly busy in the school garden this week! There was plenty to harvest, prepare, cook and taste.
The children harvested a wonderful variety of squashes and another batch of our main crop potatoes, grown in our big tubs. There’s always a little excitement when the tubs are tipped out to see what’s been growing!
Then it was time to get cooking outdoors! The children chopped the potatoes ready for cooking and made two different butters to go with them.
* Chive butter – made with freshly picked chives from the garden
* Garlic butter – made using garlic we harvested last term
There was lots for the children to get involved with - harvesting, chopping, mixing, cooking and, of course, tasting!
And the potatoes with the homemade butters were a huge hit!
Another busy session in the garden, with the children getting hands-on from harvesting the crops right through to preparing and enjoying what they had grown.
