Reception Book Week and Dinosaur Adventures
This week Reception have enjoyed celebrating Book Week while also continuing their learning in our topic all about dinosaurs.
The children have shared lots of different stories throughout the week and enjoyed spending time exploring books in the classroom. We talked about our favourite stories and characters and thought about the different adventures we can go on through reading.
We also created our own version of the story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by making a fun “dino hunt” story together. The children loved joining in with the repeated phrases and actions as we went on our dinosaur adventure.
The children then enjoyed going on their own dinosaur hunt around the classroom and outside area, carefully looking for hidden dinosaurs and ticking them off as they found them.
In maths, the children have been learning about shapes. They used their knowledge of shapes to create their own dinosaurs, choosing different shapes to build the dinosaur’s body, head, legs and tail.
The children have also been exploring different types of dinosaurs and talking about what dinosaurs might have looked like. It has been a lovely week filled with stories, creativity and learning.
