After months of watering, nurturing and patiently waiting, the results are finally in!
Throughout the growing season, every class has worked hard to care for their potato plants, and the final results were revealed during a whole-school assembly.
And the winners of The Great Trawden Spud-Off 2026 are…
Year 2!
With an incredible harvest of 2,680g, Year 2 have been crowned our 2026 Potato Growing Champions! They proudly received the prestigious Golden Mr Potato Head Trophy and their very own Spud Buddy to celebrate their fantastic achievement.

3rd – Year 6: 2,586g
4th – Year 5: 2,530g

7th – Year 4: 1,617g
A huge well done to every class for their enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication throughout the competition. Growing potatoes takes patience, care and perseverance, and every class should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
The Great Trawden Spud-Off is a wonderful example of hands-on learning, helping our children understand where food comes from while developing valuable gardening skills and working together towards a shared goal.
