It was rather wet outside this week, so our Gardening Club children headed out for a quick harvest of the remaining mini pumpkins. Every child harvested their own pumpkin straight from the vine to take home - a lovely reward for all their care and hard work!
We also checked on the broccoli growing in our polytunnel. It’s coming along nicely and looking fabulous! Before long, it will be heading to our school kitchen, ready to be served with the children’s roast dinners, another delicious journey from plot to plate!
We also checked on our pink banana plant, which will soon be tucked up for winter. Grown from seed, it kept us waiting a whole four months before finally germinating! We’ve carefully nurtured it ever since!
Back inside, the children got creative with some designing, and we made popcorn using our very own school-grown Indian corn! Listening to the kernels pop added to the excitement, following our harvest all the way from plot to popcorn!
We also began preparations for our special Remembrance projects, putting plenty of care and thought into this meaningful work.
Rain certainly didn’t stop our young gardeners from having a busy session!
