We were delighted to welcome Catherine and Flora, Sofia’s sister, back to school for a very special presentation.
Catherine kindly accepted a memorial plaque in honour of our much-loved Pets as Therapy reading companion, Sofia, whose calm, gentle nature brought comfort, confidence and joy to so many of our children. Sofia truly made a lasting difference, and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.
The plaque will take pride of place alongside our 'Reading Tree' in the school garden. We received this very special tree to mark National Tree Week last November. It is a direct descendant of Sir Isaac Newton’s famous apple tree from Woolsthorpe Manor in Lincolnshire.
The tree is currently growing in a large pot while we create a dedicated quiet reading area within our school garden. Once complete, it will be planted in its permanent home, where Sofia’s memory will continue to inspire children to pause, read and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature.
Thank you, Catherine, for sharing Sofia with us. Her legacy will continue to grow alongside our Reading Tree for many years to come.
