A Harvest of Thanks! 🌾
Today, we welcomed Rev Andy for a lovely Harvest assembly all about giving thanks. Together, we reflected on the food we enjoy each day and the people who grow, harvest and prepare it for us. It was a chance to pause and appreciate everything that happens before our food reaches our plates!
Rev Andy also showed us an enormous pumpkin, which certainly caused a stir! The children were astounded by its size—a wonderful example of the amazing things that can grow from a tiny seed. Keep an eye out for it in our photos!
The children filled the room with a beautiful rendition of Harvest Samba, bringing this message of thankfulness to life through song. Its joyful words reminded us of the wonderful variety of food we have and all those who help to provide it.
We also learnt about the Jewish festival of Sukkot. Rev Andy explained how families build temporary shelters called sukkahs, with roofs made from natural materials. This helped us think beyond the food on our tables and consider other things we can be grateful for, including the beauty of our world, the shelter we have and the things that help us feel safe.
Our assembly gave us a chance to notice and appreciate the people and everyday comforts that make a difference to our lives.
